Alfonso Trujilo, 38, is a passionate amateur photographer and technical diver living in Guadalajara, Mexico. He have been diving for almost 10 years, four years ago while diving at Utila, Honduras he experienced one of the greatest interactions with marine life, diving at open sea with a group of friendly dolphins who stay for most than 15 minutes with him and his group, he resume his experience by saying "i looked at God through the eyes of a dolphin mom and his calf", unfortunately, he did not have a camera with him and the only one with a camera in his group never sent the precious images of an unforgettable moment...he promise to himself ocean was to beauty not to share experiences like this to his friends, family and whoever curious enough to find out what lies beneath the waves.
Alfonso started with a point and shoot Nikon 4800 and Ikelite housing, later on he upgrade his set up to Canon G10 with Ikelite housing and DS160, DS161 strobes and Inon wet lens.
Alfonso has been blessed with the friendship of some of the best divers and instructors in Mexico:
Santiago Gutierrez (Seaspace) who teach him his basics in diving and inspire him with Santiago's uw photos while traveling with Seaspace thru Mexico and Central America
Alberto Bolaños, Xareni Favela (MexicoSub) who look constantly to new and remote places to dive in Mexico and Central America while managing the best operation at Isla Lobos, Veracruz.
Alberto Ruiz (Oceanos) who get Alfonso into technical diving
Roberto Chavez (Vallartech, Pacifico Expediciones) who take Alfonso further into Technical Diving (Trimix), cold water diving and GUE philosophy while looking to dive with a purpose (non for profit projects)
Alicia Hermosillo who teach him everything...literally, everything! about sea slugs.
Alfonso have dived throughout Mexico, Central America, Canary Islands and during the last years he have been diving in the Pacific from California to Michoacan with Puerto Vallarta as his home backyard.
Once he tried his first live-aboard at Coco's Island he became addicted to them and enjoy his annual live-aboard trips with his diving buddies, while at this trips and Alicia's photo safaris in Vallarta he has been able to meet some amazing uw photographers like Mauricio Handler, Richard Salas, Allison Vitsky, Clinton Bauder and Kevin Lee whose technique, patience and love for the sea and photography have inspired Alfonso's passion even further.
